LCRA would like to welcome you to the new Louisiana Court Reporters Association website.
Louisiana court reporters are recognized leaders in their profession because of their determined adherence to the standard set by LCRA (Louisiana Court Reporters Association).
LCRA is an organization that educates, protects, and promotes the court reporting profession in Louisiana. In addition, LCRA especially encourages its members to portray the ideals set by the NCRA (National Court Reporters Association), the official standard bearer in the nation.
Formerly named Louisiana Shorthand Reporters Association, LCRA is the oldest professional court reporting organization in the state of Louisiana. Association records indicate that 1955 is the founding date of the organization.
Despite some early years' lapses of continuity of the organization, LCRA is still looked on as the states' backbone of the profession, and is the only court reporting association that is the State affiliate of the National Court Reporting Association and the Louisiana Examining Arm of the NCRA, which administers the NCRA exam twice a year for future court reporters.
LCRA was the first association in Louisiana to hire a lobbyist to protect the court reporter's interests.
